No Need to Stress!

This is the second clinic that we have opened. The first one was in Missouri and I had no idea what I was doing, complete trial and error. With a few years of experience under my belt this go around is different but still stressful.

When starting a new business or anything new for that matter, it's the small things that bring excitement to what we do. For example, putting a banner up on the face of the building for your clinic that say, "Now Open, Chiropractic and Massage!" Why is that exciting? It brings visibility and lets everyone know that there's a new clinic in Herriman that does chiropractic and massage! Simple but very effective.

The hardest part about running a business is always at the beginning when you have to build and grow. Things usually start off slow and it is so easy to get discouraged when you know you have something that everyone can benefit from, especially during a time of fear where stress is at it's highest.

Chiropractic directly affects your nervous system, specifically your autonomic system (the part of the nervous system you do not have control over). In stressful times we can easily get stuck in what is known as the fight or flight (sympathetic) response. Chiropractic philosophy revolves around the word "stress." We can categorize stress into 3 sections - Trauma, Toxins, Thoughts.

- Traumatic or physical stress relates to things that cause damage to the body such as incorrect repetitive motions, auto accidents or other falls, etc.

- Toxic or chemical stress comes from those things that come into our bodies that should not be in our bodies. That includes foods we eat, beverages that we drink, what we breathe, and what we absorbed through our skin.

-Thought or emotional stress is caused by things like work deadlines, fearing a pandemic, worrying about children, in-laws coming to dinner, etc.

All of these can and will cause damage to the body. Whether that be fast or slow our body presents with symptoms, and on many occasions these symptoms are unexplainable. When the nervous system is not functioning well the body will be in an uneasy state or in dis-ease. When those become chronic then we begin to develop illness and disease.

Chiropractic physicians analyze these symptoms and through chiropractic adjustments particularly to the spine, therapies, exercise, and nutrition locate and rid the stressors and facilitate the body's ability to heal itself from the damage that has been caused. Once these stress-related issues have been corrected the body will heal. At times other medical interventions are necessary, such as medications and surgery but even then, if treated properly the body can do a complete 180 and recover. That's the beauty of chiropractic!

Massage is another tool in the toolbox to help with the same conditions, especially soft tissue injuries from accidents, depression, anxiety, and other physical and emotional stresses.

We are open here in Herriman for chiropractic and massage appointments. We all have at least one of these stressors and some of us have all of them at one time. Don't let stress control you, let us help you control the stress.
