Today as I was adjusting people in the clinic today I realized something interesting that made me slightly sad.
We opened in July of this year, right in the middle of a pandemic with controversial mask mandates in place. These masks must be worn or we can be fined up to $10,000 per incident but that's not what troubles me or makes me sad. What is troubling is that I realized that I do not know my patients as well as I would like because I cannot see their face and their facial expressions, especially their smile.
To see someone's face and expressions is priceless. No matter who it is one of the goals I have always had is to hopefully make each person smile before they leave my clinic.
We are all hardwired to have a social connection with others and when we can't see each others face we lose that connection. I truly look forward to the time when I can see the face and smile of each person that walks through my doors.
