When my wife and I woke up this morning we didn't know that we would be taught an insightful lesson from our 3 year old.
As the excitement has grown throughout the week to go to Grandma and Grandpa's house, yesterday our little fireball of a 3 year old kept asking, "Are we going tomorrow?" We responded with, "Yes, tomorrow!" This morning the same excited little girl asked, "Is today tomorrow?!" Once we understood what she was saying we responded with, "Yes, today is tomorrow!"
Just like most children, when they get to go to Grandma's house it's almost like Christmas morning - pure joy and excitement! That may be because they get spoiled by their grandparents.
As my wife and I laughed at what she asked we both thought for a second and discussed how beautiful of a lesson we were just taught - Today is the tomorrow you wanted yesterday!
Hoping for a better tomorrow! I believe that everyday when we wake up we have something to be grateful for and something to look forward to. We control a lot in our lives but sometimes there are situations that are completely out of our hands. However, we have control over how we respond to those situations. We always have a choice! That is a God given gift that no one in this world can take away.
Slowly I have learned that I create my outcomes by my choices and actions. When Harry Potter just defeated a young Tom Riddle (aka Lord Voldemort) and saved Hogwarts and the wizarding world again, he was a little distraught. He began thinking that he was too similar to Tom Riddle and would become a dark wizard. To this concern Dumbledore responded, "It is our choices, Harry, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities."
I challenge each of us, every night to think of at least one thing that we can be grateful for that day and to think of something that we can look forward to the next day. That could be something as small as eating delicious piece of bacon for breakfast! If we change our mindset we can change our lives and that in turn will begin to influence those around us.
